Cardiac Rehabilitation & Wellness Program

The Cardiac Wellness Program at Ellis Athletic Center is for members who are continuing their exercise after completing hospital based cardiac rehabilitation.  These dedicated members have been educated on the importance of aerobic exercise to maintain heart health, remain independent, and stay active.  Resistance exercise is also included in the training program to maintain physical strength and function.  This program is led by Andrew Schlosser, Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Personal Trainer.

Andrew Schlosser, Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Personal Trainer at Ellis Athletic Center

I have been working in Phase 2 Cardiac Rehabilitation and Phase 3 Cardiac and Pulmonary Maintenance for over two years.  I specialize in training the senior population and developing balanced fitness programs that emphasize aerobic exercise to maintain and improve heart health.  As a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Personal Trainer, I have the ability to take a member’s medical history, or any concerns they have, into account when discussing their workout programs with them.

My training philosophy focuses on two main things:  keeping the member safe and looking for opportunities to strategically progress their fitness routine.  When it comes to exercise, I have learned many lessons over the years while studying at West Chester University where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in exercise science.  In addition, I have learned countless lessons about health and wellness through simply just exercising and consistently being in the gym for over half of my life!

My favorite part about being a trainer is working with a member to develop an exercise routine and then focusing in and polishing the small details of their routine.  This is what takes a good workout and turns it into a great workout!
